Gaffer Talk

Well the league is starting to take shape, and you can look and now work out some kind of results. Although sitting 5th at present I expect and hope that we can gain 9 points in the next month, and that will keep us well in the running for promotion. The team changes weekly at present because of injury and holidays but we are still managing to scrape the results. Personally Im not too worried this season about things like the Junior and Duchy Cup, My priority this year is, building an in depth squad and the league, finishing 4th or above and working for promotion, the less games the better, it reduces the chance of injury. I can hear supporters asking each other why Ive substituted a player, and their conversations usually end up with me not knowing whats going on. Ive got big shoulders, but my job is to keep my players happy and fit, and if I am in a position where I can rest players, then I will. The team have great team spirit, and everyone of them knows that they are part of a SQUAD, and not part of a starting 11. If one performs better than another, then they will be picked. They also know that at certain games they could be asked to be rested, and this is excepted as the norm, and long may the attitude stay that way. So watch this space! "Greeen Arrrmy"

REMEMBER TRAINING STARTS 7PM AT JURY PARK THIS THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11/0409

A good week in the rebirth of PUAFC.

Training started on thursday, the heavens opened for most of the day, leaving one of those drizzly evenings that soaks everyone to the skin. Communication was good, everyone replied to txt messages, and we were expecting about 16, but with the weather raining down  we were wondering how many would turn up. Dee and myself arrived to set out the equipment for the session, and with only 5 mins to the start there was only 6 players. What more could we expect, who would really want to train in this weather.

Then between 25 past and half past the car park was like Piccadilly Circus.

20 to training on a night like that - BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

The training session went well, feedback showed were are doing and planning the right things,  so thanks to everyone for turning out.

Padstow United A.F.C. Press Release

04/03/09

Padstow United Hoping for Kick Off

After a disappointing end to senior football last year, Padstow United have regrouped, and are now hoping to be accepted into The Duchy Football League for the 2009/10 season.

The committee has continued to remain positive to football being played at Jury Park again next season. They have appointed  a  new manager, Jel Barker, and he has put a squad together of some 20 players, and with the coaching staff has already started preparing a training programme for this summer, in preparation for the season ahead if accepted into the league. They have found a willing volunteer to train as a referee, part of the requirement for acceptance into the Duchy league and along with the excellent facilities on offer at Jury Park, are hoping for a positive reply from the league when their application is forwarded this week.

If there is anyone interested in playing for Padstow next season they should contact Jel on 07877762542

Padstow United are hoping to be accepted into Duchy League Division 5 for the 2009/10 season. Training will start at the end of Feb and training matches soon after.

A reasonable turn out last night (24/02/09) seeing as United were on the box, 11 at meeting, with 10 apologies received during the week, squad looking good at this time, thanks for all those that came and those that sent thier apologies.

A big thank you to Mark Jones who said he would do the referees course, this is not only good for Mark, but is a requirement for entry into the league. Thanks again Mark!

It was decided at the players meeting that traing would be held twice a week. Tuesday evenings at Wadebridge sports centre, this wont be available for about 4 weeks. I will txt everyone and let them know as soon as I  know a start date. It is at present being used, but they are finishing in about 4 weeks.

The other training night was Thursday. This will be held at Jury Park and will utilise all the new training equipment.

Watch this space for start dates.

Club Insurance will be purchased from C.C.F.A. as per rule. If players want their own insurance, speak to steve Swabey, he's got contact names and numbers.

More info to follow soon, including price lists for clothing.

Cheers Gaffer
